On October 28, 2025, the Eighth Governing Board Meeting of the International Panel of Mesoscience (IPM) was successfully held in Beijing. The meeting focused on key issues such as deepening global cooperation, optimizing the functions of the Secretariat, expanding the membership system, and promoting the development of mesoscience research. In-depth discussions were conducted in a hybrid format (online and in-person), culminating in the formulation and deployment of systematic plans.

In the keynote presentation, the core value of mesoscience in revealing the universal principles of multilevel complex systems and promoting interdisciplinary integration was systematically elaborated. The report reviewed the development journey of mesoscience, which started from the foundational case of gas-solid flow, gradually expanded to multiple disciplinary fields, and preliminarily formed a theoretical framework, demonstrating its scientific value and practical vitality as a general methodology. Subsequently, the latest research advances and practical achievements of mesoscience across various fields were highlighted, along with a report on the positive outcomes achieved by the board members in promoting the dissemination of mesoscience. During the subsequent agenda, the meeting also received systematic reports on the progress of international cooperation projects and the phased achievements of the Secretariat.

During the discussion session, board members engaged in thorough exchanges and in-depth deliberations on the long-term development strategy, near-term priorities, and the work plan for 2026. The meeting further clarified the core directions for the next phase, with detailed task allocations and coordinated ahhangements, laying a solid foundation for the collaborative development and efficient operation of the International Panel of Mesoscience in the future.
